Cervical Spondylosis Symptoms

Cervical spondylosis is an ailment which involves damage of the cervical vertebrae of the neck. The severe damage to the cervical spine is known to be one of the most common causes of this syndrome. This affects the disks placed between the cartilages of the neck and the joints between the bones of the cervical spine.

This can also develop due to unusual growth or spur on the bones of the spine. This abnormal development may compress one or more nerves and may affect the spinal cord in some of the worst cases.

Many times, cervical spondylosis may not show any signs and you would not notice that there is a problem until a doctor examines it. But, the main symptoms that may cause great discomfort to you are pain and stiffness in the neck. It is observed that people, who are very active in sports or work for long hours without any break, eventually develop cervical spondylosis.

Growing age is one of the main causes of cervical spondylosis. Cervical spondylosis symptoms begin to show in people as they start to grow older. You might notice that there is a considerable amount of weakness in your muscles and you are unable to lift your arms or legs due to the lack of strength in your muscles. These symptoms may not be evident at once, but they may grow on you with the passage of time, and gradually become worse.
