Septic facet arthritis also called as the infectitious arthritis caused in the spinal joints is known to be caused by certain bacteria and fungi. This type of illness affects only a single joint usually the spine of the individuals. This condition leaves the joint unable to work permanently in extreme cases.
The bacterium that causes this medical condition is known as strep, staph, TB, Lyme (borrelia), syphilis and gonorrhea. Bacterium is single cell organisms that are either plant or animal. These do not have a nucleus of its own to distinguish one from the other. Most of the bacterium is helpful in nature while some causes harmful infection to the human body making it a major cause for a serious medical condition such as septic facet arthritis.
Main Causes of Septic Facet Arthritis
Some infections might be developed in the bodies that are caused by the bacterium, viruses and fungi or parasites that would trigger the medical condition. The mycobacterium tuberculosis is an organism that is infectious in nature which is usually spread by the cough droplets of an infected individual.
This infection occurs in the lungs usually and then spreads to the other parts of the body which has the tendency to occur even after a few decades. This disease of TB is one among the major causes of septic facet arthritis as it has the presence of very infective organism.
Other Causes of Septic Facet Arthritis
There are also other streptococcal infection, which again is caused by the bacteria that are of two types namely Group A and Group B. This infection can occur in various parts of the body and cause inflammation and pain that triggers this medical condition called as septic facet arthritis. The Group B strep or GBS is most infectious in nature as it can occur during vaginal birth or normal delivery and it can affect the baby too. This infection can also occur in kids, teens and adults in the form of sore throat and might lead to arthritis.
It is usually a bacterial infection that is also one of the main causes of septic facet arthritis that is usually acquired through sexual contact. This infection occurs in various stages of development in the human body as a sore that is painless in nature in the genitals or in the mouth. This infection of the sores spreads through the skin and the mucous membranes which come in contact with the sores. This in turn would cause arthritis in the spinal region.
In short, if any infection occurs in your body even in the form of cold or fever should not be left untreated as this might lead to development of infection in the cartilage joints, which in turn acts as the causes of septic facet arthritis. This might also encourage the growth of bacteria or fungi in your body if you get a rash or wound or an injury as a result of not curing it fully or not getting any professional help for it.
