Here is a list of materials that are required for making a poultice. These include handful of large comfrey leaves to ensure the formation of sufficient amount of paste to cover the affected area, distilled water and sterilized gauze of large dimension so that the joint area over which it is to be applied, is covered thoroughly. To hold the gauze in place, keep a safety pin ready along with a saucepan, automatic blender or mortar-pestle set.
Place all the leaves collected in a blender or mortar along with a sufficient amount of distilled water. Make sure you do not pour too much of water or else the paste will be too runny. If so happens, add a few leaves and churn or macerate again. Once the desired consistency is obtained, heat the prepared herbal paste over low flame while constantly stirring till a warm temperature (not hot enough to burn the skin) is reached.
