However, in this post we are going to deal with some home treatments for spondylosis.
Home Treatments for Spondylosis
Garlic is considered to be the best ingredient in the list of home remedy treatments for spondylosis. Cook 10 garlic cloves in coconut or sesame oil with half cup of mustard until they are brown. After cooling the oil mixture, apply it on the painful region with firm rubbing movements.
After your massaging session is over leave the area oily for more than 3 hours. Take a warm bath to wash off the oil from the skin. Continue this process for at least 2 weeks to feel its effectiveness. Simple oil massage on the shoulders, neck and hands on a daily basis can also help to alleviate the neck pain related to spondylosis, put lemon juice with salt along with it for at least 2 times a day.
In Indian grocery store, you will get triphala powder. Mix a tablespoon of triphala powder and sugar in one cup of hot milk. Take this mixture every day to suppress the pain and render mobility to your cervical joints. Heated salt packs also act as potent pain killers.
Pour 1 pound of salt in a thick cotton scarf and heat it on a frying pan until it is hot enough to be used as a pack. Place the pack upon your neck and leave it there for at least 10 minutes. Apply this pack for at least 2 times per day and allow your neck to rest after the treatment to avoid further injuries.
Bitter tasting vegetables are very useful in treating spondylosis and they are highly available in the Indian grocery stores. The vegetables include bitter gourd, neem flowers and leaves and drum sticks. Try to avoid certain food items like pickles, unsweetened yoghurt, fatty foods, sweets and beverages like coffee and tea.
Spondylosis pain can also be relieved by including raw vegetables like tomato, radish, spinach, carrot, lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumber and fresh fruits in your diet. Instead of rice consume more wheat, but do not take refined wheat like semolina or flour. Refined wheat not only causes constipation, but also hampers recuperation.
Certain changes in lifestyle help a great deal to prevent the occurrence of spondylosis. Take movement breaks if you are in a job that requires sitting in a particular position for long hours and involve activities like walking, cycling, exercising and swimming in your daily routine. This will not only provide nutrition to the discs and bones of the spine, but will also protect it from degenerating.
